Malenkaya Kompaniya Theater Studio was founded in 2008. During these years our students have put many plays on stage (Kolobok, Cinderella, The Little Prince, The Elephant’s Child, Buratino, The Cat that Walked by Himself and many others). Our studio participated in the Festival of Russian Children’s Theaters in Washington, DC two times. Our adaptation of The Little Prince received the first prize in the classic works category.

The theater studio accepts children from 5 years old to 13 years old. Students of our Drama Program develop the technique of speech, memorize lyrics, tongue-twisters, songs and dances, design puppets and props, learn the basics of drama and puppetry, and participate in shows and performances. Acting helps children improve their public speaking skills and self-esteem. During the classes, children not only have fun but also learn to work in team and listen to others.

Children are placed in groups according to age and knowledge of Russian. The classes are in Russian. All theater terms are taught in Russian and English.

The program includes 2 classes in one session: drama and singing with stage movement. Classes will be on Saturdays and Sundays in the morning and on Wednesdays in the afternoon. If there are enough kids we may open an additional group on other weekdays.

For older kids and HS students we offer Public Speaking Classes.

Theater Studio Preparatory Division

The Sunday program for children from 3 to 5 years old includes exercises to develop speech, memory, fine motor skills, and socialization. Kids will memorize poems, songs, and tongue-twisters; they will learn to perform on stage, work with finger puppets, and make arts and crafts. After that the kids may stay for a music class where they will learn singing and movement.
